Nicholas and Sarah were married after a whirlwind six months of planning, and their wedding marked far more than just the start of their marriage—it was the moment Sarah truly fell in love with wedding planning and design. As a designer and future co-founder of Bride to Be, the process of pulling together all the visual elements of the day felt deeply fulfilling. Through every decision, Sarah and Nick were able to express their shared taste, values, and creativity, discovering along the way just how powerful thoughtful design can be when it tells a personal story.

What made their wedding especially remarkable was that they planned it entirely themselves, without a wedding planner—something that felt almost unheard of to friends and family. Six months, no planner, and a nontraditional venue raised more than a few concerned eyebrows. But Sarah and Nick locked in, divided and conquered, and truly built their wedding from the ground up. It was a labor of love that required countless decisions, late nights, and a lot of trust in each other, but it also gave them complete ownership of the experience.

They chose to get married in a family friend’s backyard on the water in Saunderstown, Rhode Island, a location that was as special as it was rare. The property isn’t a traditional wedding venue and doesn’t typically host weddings at all, which meant there were no built-in amenities—no chairs, no tables, no silverware, no bathrooms, no kitchen. Every single detail had to be sourced, rented, planned, and executed from scratch. From tablecloths and chairs to forks, knives, and napkins, nothing was overlooked. The outdoor ceremony flowed into an outdoor reception beneath a sailcloth tent, with the water as a constant, breathtaking backdrop.

On the wedding day, the effort paid off in the most meaningful way. Looking around, Sarah and Nick could see themselves in every detail. The oyster bar was a guest favorite, the bar by Little Bitte—an incredible local business from Providence—kept spirits high all evening, and guests could wander down to the beach to enjoy the ice luge, a $30 “cheap thrill” that ended up being one of the most talked-about moments of the night. It was magical, joyful, deeply personal, and proof that even the most ambitious weddings can come together beautifully with intention and heart.

That experience ultimately inspired Sarah to create Bride to Be—a place where couples can simplify part of the planning process without sacrificing style. When you’re planning a wedding on a tight timeline, having your wedding invitations, save the dates, rehearsal dinner cards, and wedding website handled quickly and cohesively makes an enormous difference. A unified stationery suite sets the tone early and frees up time and mental space for everything else on your plate. At bridetobe.shop, couples can find beautifully designed, coordinated wedding templates that make it easier to focus on the moments—and the magic—that truly matter.
